Tattoo Picture and Design Choices
Children love to look at pictures of tattoos and most parents don’t mind them wearing a body tattoo that will wash off. Teenagers may think that tattoos are cool and continue to want a real one, and as they are now more frequently seen on young adults, it is becoming more of a status thing to have a real tattoo for some people.
At fairs and other fun events, children often get tattoos drawn on their cheeks as face paint. These images tend to be simple shapes, but they are the beginnings of tattoos in concept. There are temporary tattoos that can be purchased for kids, which come in the image of popular cartoon characters and other well known symbols, and they can be put on a child’s arm or face through the application of water and light pressure. These tattoos usually only last a day or so, and can be easily removed with soap and water.
As children get older, they tend to start drawing tattoos on their arms with pens and markers, in an attempt to imitate real tattoos. They might draw something innocent like angel tattoos or the images might be less acceptable, but these kids are looking to decorate their body with pictures and designs of their choosing. Some children with drawing ability or a strong desire to have a real tattoo will spend hours creating an intricate image with multiple colors.
At the age of 18, when it is legal in North America, some teenagers will go beyond looking at pictures of tattoos and actually want to have a real one. While their parents may not want them to have one, they can now do what they want to their own bodies. Tattoo artists are easy to find locally and they will even do non-permanent pictures on an arm, leg or back so the teenager can decide if they really want to have something permanent on their body.
Even at some grocery stores, small children can look at pictures of tattoos and choose a washable one for free. Thus, the idea of having a real tattoo is being encouraged by these methods. Years ago, slaves were tattooed and also in other countries tribal tattoo designs were done to children as a sign of belonging to a particular group of people. Today in North America, gangs will have specific tattoos that show that they belong to the gang and thus the old method of showing that you belong to a group continues. Some parents still worry about their child’s interest in tattoos because they have a negative view of tattoos. However, it is becoming more acceptable to have a single tattoo that may mean something to the person wearing it.
